The company was incorporated in 1996 as Au Financiers by Sanjay Agarwal as a private limited company, and publicly listed in an IPO on 29 June 2017.
AU Small Finance Bank recently got listed on National Stock Exchange(NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE) with market capitalization of Rs. 17,000 crore. On its first day of trading, the stock rose upto 51% to be the most expensive bank in India based on price-to-book. over the past years, the Bank has interested marquee investors like IFC, Kotak Mahindra MF, Warburg Pincus, Nomura, SBI MF, Temasek Holdings etc. Private equity companies that offers venture capital, comprising International Finance Corporation and Warburg Pincus, made partial exits for as much as nine times their original investment.
On November 2017, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) added the bank to its schedule of commercial banks, furthermore improving the bank’s growth potential by decreasing the cost of short-term funds and improving the bank’s ability to provide their services.
